Fiji is known for its spectacular soft corals and swirling blizzards of colorful fish.
Close to the open ocean where clear water and currents provide ideal conditions, the
eastern edge of Beqa Lagoon doesn't disappoint. There are some small and recent (15
years) wrecks in the area. Fittingly enough, many of them are confiscated foreign
fishing vessels that have been sunk to provide new habitat for fish and corals (Google
"situational irony").
Most of the sites are right by Beqa Island, a half hour from the dock at the Pearl
Resort in Pacific Harbor where we conveniently stayed. Pacific Harbor is on the
South East coast of the main island, Viti Levu.
